Meet Eric Wren, LMFT
Who I Work With
I work with adults experiencing a range of issues including depression & anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief and trauma. I find particular interest in working with people who are navigating complex relationship issues and facing the push-pull of wanting to stay and wanting to leave, often paired with guilt, confusion, or fear of making the wrong choice. I am LGBTQ+ affirming & consider it a privilege to work with people of varying backgrounds and identities.
How I Work
Research consistently shows that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest predictors of positive outcomes in therapy. My clinical approach is warm and relational, and clients often describe me as curious, non-judgmental, and direct with care.
I am trained in Integrative Systemic Therapy, meaning I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches to help clients identify and work through what's keeping them stuck. I also place particular focus on each client's family of origin experiences and how those early dynamics continue to shape them today.
I value being up to date in the field’s most current research, and regularly invest in individual and group consultation, continuing education, and specialized trainings.
Where I Work
I consider myself a “traveling therapist”—one of the best parts of my job. I completed my education & clinical training at The Family Institute at Northwestern University in Chicago, built my private practice in New York City, and now live & travel around various parts of the U.S. while I work with clients.
I am licensed across multiple states & offer virtual therapy sessions in New York, Illinois, Colorado, Texas, Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Iowa, and Wisconsin.
Currently, I offer in-person sessions in the Central Texas / Austin area.
